Infinity Supercritical Extraction Test of Nitrogen Explosive Decompression Pre-treatment with Cascade Hops 1 Hour Run Time June 4th, 2018

May 2018 testing by Infinity Supercritical to determine advantage of using nitrogen pressurized soak and explosive decompression as a pre-treatment.

Equipment Configuration: Infinity Supercritical 10L Vertical Extraction, 40:1 Gearbox, TriboTube Down Tubes (for electrostatic precipitation), CO2 FlowBar, Small Heat Exchanger, Botanicals Basket, Insulated Chiller Lines, Chiller set to 30 F, PID’s, Stock Valves, Check Valve, PID Controlling Pressure in Reservoir (set to 715 psi).

Processing Test Run Dynamics: Infinity Supercritical Cascade Hops botanical oil extraction. 454 grams of Cascade hops were put into the extraction vessel and pressurized to 2,000 psi for 1 hour as a pre-soak treatment. The vessel was then rapidly depressurized, and then the basket was put into a Infinity Supercritical 10L machine for a short 1 hour run. Noticeable aroma when decompressing nitrogen soak. Machine staggered to build pressure first time, so operator opened and blew out valves and pump head, which resulted in machine working fine. Took about an hour to reach 89 F. Almost all yield in CC1, some oil in CC2 which was darker and more liquid. Beautiful yellow color and aroma. Even though run was only 1 hour, there was a collection of 57 grams of material, and 12.6 yield.
