30 Minute / 30 Minute Botanical Oil Extraction Using Supercritical CO2 and the Infinity Supercritical 10L System with FlowBar CO2 Delivery and TriboTube ESP Electrostatic Collection

Supercritical CO2 System Setup: Infinity Supercritical 10L Vertical Extraction, 40:1 Gearbox, TriboTube Down Tubes (for electrostatic precipitation or ESP), Flow Bar, Small Heat Exchanger, No Basket, Insulated Chiller Lines, Chiller set to 30 F, PID’s, Stock Valves, Check Valve, PID Controlling Pressure in Reservoir (set to 715 psi).

Infinity Supercritical Cascade Hops botanical oil extraction. Input: 454 grams of Cascade hops were put into the extraction vessel. This was a test cycle of 30 minutes, stop cycle, then another 30 minutes. Total extraction time 60 minutes. Result was 67 grams of crude oil extracted (just under 15 percent of total weight or 67/454). The crude oil is a wonderful aroma (terpenes) and color. Infinity can achieve such fast botanical extraction rates (similar to BHO extraction speed) because they are the only group in the industry to use FlowBar for the delivery of the CO2 into the botanicals. The FlowBar allows penetration of the botanicals through the entire length of the extraction vessel, from the inside to the outside of the botanical. This complete infusion of the CO2 means faster extraction times and more cycles per day, which results in larger amounts of product that can be processed.

Lab Scale Results of Supercritical CO2 Extraction:

30-30 min (1 hour total): 65 grams

45-45 min (1 hour 30 min total): 44 grams

2.5 hour extraction: 42.9 grams
